I was personally raised with the knowledge that the earth is ~4.5 billion years old, but I remember my first encounter with a Young Earth Creationist back in second grade when he tried to argue with me that the earth was only 10,000 years old. As I've grown up a little more, I've come to see that young earth believers are far and few between. But I was wrong.

"Polls taken last year showed that 45 percent of Americans believe that God created humans in their present form 10,000 years ago (or less) and that man shares no common ancestor with the ape. Only 26 percent believe in the central tenet of evolution, that all life descended from a single ancestor." (emphasis added; link)

It's really sad that in the 21st century this belief is still being taught as truth through churches and institutions like the Answers in Genesis Museum. You might also considering viewing the answers to Frequently Asked Questions or the Fun for Kids page of the Creation Evidence Museum. The latter has great quotes like, "So, you’re saying that dinosaurs and man lived at the same time? Yes, the Creation Evidence Museum even found a dinosaur footprint with a human footprint inside of it on the bottom of a riverbed. It was fossilized in the same layer of rock proving that humans and dinosaurs had to have lived during the same time period." What service are extremists doing future generations by propagating these lies?

Also, these two Richard Dawkins documentaries are splendid, if you have some time (compliments of google video). They aren't about YECs, specifically, but rather religion as a whole.

Deathcab was super. They had some really great instrumental stuff (there was like a 10 minute jam session --amazing), I think they should include more of that on any future albums. It was fun. Yay.
